Confessori – Realm Breaker – 2026

Ricardo Confessori steps out from behind the drum kit with “Realm Breaker”, a cinematic metal concept album built around humanity, technology and the fear of losing control of both. Heavy riffs, orchestral layers and a rotating cast of powerful Brazilian voices give the record the scale of a dystopian metal opera.
Best known for his work with KORZUS, ANGRA and SHAMAN, Confessori has spent decades shaping Brazilian heavy metal from behind the drums. “Realm Breaker” is the first time he places his own name at the center of a full-length project, and he uses that freedom to build something much broader than a conventional solo record.
The album unfolds as a science-fiction narrative about the collision between human instinct and artificial intelligence. Rather than treating technology as simple decoration, the story moves from hope and discovery toward dependence, control and the darker possibility that the tools humanity creates may eventually begin writing the rules.
“Parmi Les Ruines Naissent L’Espoir et Le Trésor” opens the record like the first scene of a ruined future, before “Black Mirror” brings Mizuho Lin into one of the album’s darker vocal passages. Her voice returns later on “The Shredder”, giving both tracks a sharp contrast between beauty and mechanical aggression.
“Into Dark Matter” features Guilherme Hirose, while “Magic Sprouts Of Hope” brings Daniel Pinho into a more melodic and uplifting section of the story. João Henrique “Rasta” adds keyboard solos to the latter, widening the progressive side of the arrangement.
“Ösel Solis” is one of the record’s most unusual instrumental moments. Djent-inspired riffs, guitar leads, orchestration and a saxophone-driven closing section push the album well beyond straightforward power metal and give the track an almost cinematic fusion feel.
The title track brings in Fabio Caldeira, whose voice gives “Realm Breaker” the kind of dramatic lift the central chapter needs. “Where The Eagles Fly” then hands the microphone to Dan Vasc, while Carlos Zema takes over on “No Prize To Perfection”.
“The Dark Passenger” brings Bruno Sutter into the final stretch, with another keyboard solo from Rasta, before “Ausklang” closes the album like the last transmission after the machines have stopped answering.
The guest list is impressive, but “Realm Breaker” never feels like a compilation of disconnected singers. Confessori and Thiago Larenttes keep the arrangements tied together through recurring orchestral textures, heavy rhythm work and a consistent futuristic atmosphere.
There is power metal here, progressive metal, djent, symphonic writing and classic heavy-metal drama, but the album’s real strength is the way those pieces serve the story rather than compete for attention.
