SWEET – The Answer [Metalville remastered reissue] (2026), MP3+FLAC
Metalville Records is set to bring back the long-unavailable Sweet record “The Answer” this coming Friday, offering a fresh remaster along with several bonus cuts. The album first came out in 1992 under the title “A,” before getting reissued in 1995 with a new name, “The Answer,” along with some additional material. This latest 2026 edition throws three more bonus tracks into the mix.
For this project, Sweet frontman Andy Scott brought together an impressive group of musicians: Mal McNulty of Slade handling lead vocals, Bodo Schopf, known for his work with Eloy and MSG, on drums, and the talented Steve Mann, another MSG and Lionheart alumnus, contributing keyboards, guitar, and vocals. The record blends enduring melodic hard rock songwriting with metal-tinged elements, all while staying true to Sweet’s signature sound. Steve Mann also took on co-production and engineering duties, resulting in a lively, punchy overall mix.
This is a genuinely underrated gem that deserves attention from anyone who loves late-’80s and early-’90s melodic hard rock, particularly fans of McAuley Schenker Group, packed with sharp guitar riffs, sophisticated keyboard work, and memorable, layered choruses. It’s now available again at last on both CD and vinyl formats. Highly recommended.
