All Exclusive Classic Rock Folk

Country: UK
Genre: Folk Rock, Singer-Songwriter
Year : 2026

Lemon Records marks the 50th anniversary of Go For Broke with an 80-track, six-disc retrospective covering Iain Matthews’ Columbia Records period — one of the more productive and underappreciated chapters in a career that now spans six decades.

An original Fairport Convention member from 1967 to 1969 and the voice behind Matthews Southern Comfort’s UK number one Woodstock, Matthews has never stopped working. This box set gathers the two studio albums he made for Columbia — Go For Broke (1976) and Hit And Run (1977) — in expanded 2026 editions, alongside four discs of live material that paint a vivid picture of a constantly evolving artist in full command of his craft.

The live recordings are the real discovery here. Two complete shows from Denver’s legendary Ebbets Field venue — June 1976 with his band Motion, May 1977 with The Falling Rock Band — sit alongside a Boston live set, the Hit And Run rehearsal tapes recorded at SIR Studios in LA, and a sixth disc spanning performances from 1979 through to 2022. Six previously unissued songs appear for the first time, including Payday, Truck Driving Man, Faith To Arise, Nobody, Palm Springs Jump, and Trouble In Paradise.
