Formed as teenagers at New York\u2019s LaGuardia High School, LUNACHICKS came up through the same downtown ecosystem that fed bands into CBGB, The Limelight and the wider alternative underground. Their sound was never cleanly punk or metal; it carried bits of RAMONES velocity, BLACK SABBATH weight, KISS theatricality, BLONDIE cool and enough sarcasm to keep the whole thing dangerous.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe Can Be Worster\u201d works like a guided tour through that mess.<\/p>\n
\u201cDrop Dead\u201d and \u201cLess Teeth More Tits\u201d hit first with exactly the kind of rude, high-energy punch the band built their name on, while \u201cDon\u2019t Want You\u201d and \u201cJan Brady\u201d bring more of the bratty melodic side into the mix.<\/p>\n

\u201cJerk Of All Trades\u201d remains one of their strongest calling cards, all jagged riffs and attitude, while \u201cBabysitters On Acid\u201d reaches back to the band\u2019s earliest era and reminds you just how strange and fearless their debut sounded at the start of the \u201990s.<\/p>\n
\u201cDear Dotti\u201d brings more melody into the closing stretch before \u201cHeart of Glass\u201d wraps the collection with their own hard-edged take on the BLONDIE classic.<\/p>\n
The charm of this compilation is that it does not try to make LUNACHICKS look respectable. Their music was always about volume, humor, confrontation and refusing to behave properly, and the track selection keeps that spirit intact.<\/p>\n
