The riffs are thick, John Bush sounds ferocious, and the whole record carries that rare mix of old-school steel and lived-in confidence.

More than four decades into their career, ARMORED SAINT have reached the point where they no longer need to chase trends or prove their credentials. “Emotion Factory Reset” simply doubles down on what they do best: muscular heavy metal, big hooks, intelligent arrangements and riffs that hit with weight rather than speed for speed’s sake.

“Close To The Bone” opens with exactly that kind of authority. Joey Vera’s bass sits deep in the mix, the Sandoval brothers bring the twin-guitar muscle, and Bush still sings like the microphone owes him money. “Every Man-Any Man” keeps the pressure high with a strong melodic backbone, while “Not On Your Life” strips things down into something tighter and meaner.

“Hit A Moonshot” is one of the record’s more ambitious moments, balancing classic SAINT heaviness with a broader, almost progressive sense of movement. “Buckeye” stretches close to six minutes and gives the band room to breathe, building tension instead of simply piling riff upon riff.

“Compromise” and “It’s A Buzzkill” bring the album back to a leaner attack, both driven by sharp rhythmic turns and that unmistakable Los Angeles metal grit. “Throwing Caution To The Wind” carries a looser, more open feel, while “Ladders And Slides” brings another strong dose of melody without sanding down the edges.

“Bottom Feeder” hits with one of the album’s heavier grooves before “Epilogue” closes the standard edition on a more reflective note. It is a fitting end for a record that spends much of its time looking forward without pretending the past never happened.

The Japanese edition adds “One Chain (Don’t Make No Prison)” as a bonus track, giving the disc one final blast of hard-rock soul after the main album has finished. It is a smart extra rather than disposable padding, and its looser groove fits surprisingly well beside the tougher original material.

“Emotion Factory Reset” is not a nostalgia exercise and it certainly does not sound like a band running on fumes. ARMORED SAINT still play heavy metal with the hunger of men who remember why they started in the first place — only now the punches land with forty years of experience behind them.

Country: US
Label: King Records Japan / Metal Blade Records
Genre: Heavy Metal
Release date: May 22, 2026
Japan Catalog No.: KICP-4116
Format: CD
Total time: 51:47

Tracklist:
01 – Close To The Bone (4:09)
02 – Every Man-Any Man (4:20)
03 – Not On Your Life (3:37)
04 – Hit A Moonshot (4:34)
05 – Buckeye (5:56)
06 – Compromise (3:17)
07 – It’s A Buzzkill (4:01)
08 – Throwing Caution To The Wind (3:57)
09 – Ladders And Slides (4:21)
10 – Bottom Feeder (5:03)
11 – Epilogue (4:42)
12 – One Chain (Don’t Make No Prison) (3:50) [Japan Bonus Track]

John Bush – Vocals
Jeff Duncan – Guitars
Phil Sandoval – Guitars
Joey Vera – Bass
Gonzo Sandoval – Drums

Produced by Joey Vera

MP3 FLAC

ARMORED SAINT return with “Emotion Factory Reset”, sounding less like veterans protecting a legacy and more like a band still itching for another fight.
