The tapes simply accumulated while FOGHAT kept playing, and that spontaneity gives the record much of its charm. You can hear a working band rather than a museum reconstruction: tempos flex, guitars snarl, and the songs carry the grease and road dust of actual stages.

The first disc concentrates on FOGHAT proper. “My Babe” opens with blues-rock swagger before “Drivin’ On” and “Road Fever” push the engine harder. “She’s a Little Bit of Everything” and “Black Days & Blue Nights” show that the current lineup is not surviving purely on nostalgia, while older cuts like “Home in My Hand” and “Third Time Lucky” slide naturally beside the newer material.

Scott Holt sounds particularly comfortable in this setting. His vocals have enough grit to stand against the guitars, and Bryan Bassett’s slide playing keeps slicing through the arrangements like sparks off a grinder. Underneath them, Rodney O’Quinn and founding drummer Roger Earl provide exactly the sort of unflashy, rolling foundation that this music needs.

“It Hurts Me Too” slows the pulse without cooling anything down, and “Hole to Hide In” reaches all the way back to the band’s 1972 debut. The closing stretch then turns into a full bar-room takeover: “Sweet Home Chicago” stretches past seven minutes before “I Just Want to Make Love to You” gets nearly ten minutes to smoke, grind and swagger its way to the finish.

Disc Two switches over to Earl & The Agitators, essentially the same FOGHAT family letting its roots show even more openly. Blues, country, roots rock and old-school rock ’n’ roll come to the front on “Upside of Lonely”, “Guess Things Happen That Way”, “Linda Lu” and “Hi-Heel Sneakers”, while the live material at the end loosens the collar another notch.

That second disc is more than padding. It shows where the FOGHAT machine gets its fuel: blues clubs, roadhouses, country records and the sort of music meant to sound better after midnight. Put together, the two discs feel less like a conventional live album and more like an X-ray of the band’s entire musical bloodstream.

FOGHAT may have formed back in 1971, but “Live & Loud Across the U.S.A.” does not sound like a band staring at its scrapbook. It sounds like four guys still enjoying the simple pleasure of turning up loud, leaning into the groove and watching the room move.

Country: UK / US
Label: Foghat Records
Genre: Blues Rock / Boogie Rock / Hard Rock
Release date: October 30, 2026
Format: 2CD / Triple Vinyl / Digital
Total time: 2:26:08

Disc 1 – Live & Loud Across the U.S.A.

01 – My Babe (Live) (4:49)
02 – Drivin’ On (Live) (4:16)
03 – Road Fever (Live) (5:11)
04 – She’s a Little Bit of Everything (Live) (3:08)
05 – Let Me Love You Baby (Live) (4:06)
06 – Black Days & Blue Nights (Live) (4:38)
07 – Home in My Hand (Live) (5:27)
08 – Slipped, Tripped, Fell in Love (Live) (4:13)
09 – It Hurts Me Too (Live) (5:22)
10 – Hole to Hide In (Live) (3:49)
11 – Somebody’s Been Sleeping in My Bed (Live) (3:52)
12 – Third Time Lucky (Live) (4:15)
13 – Sweet Home Chicago (Live) (7:39)
14 – I Just Want to Make Love to You (Live) (9:55)

Disc 2 – Shaken & Stirred

01 – Upside of Lonely (4:21)
02 – Where’s the Rock n’ Roll (5:56)
03 – I’m Coming Home (4:20)
04 – Guess Things Happen That Way (2:38)
05 – Love Isn’t Kind (5:49)
06 – Fallen Angel (4:21)
07 – Hi-Heel Sneakers (4:40)
08 – Linda Lu (3:10)
09 – Honey Do List (4:38)
10 – Lonesome Train (3:00)
11 – Sunday Morning Coming Down (4:08)
12 – Gone Dead Train (2:50)
13 – All Because of You (5:11)
14 – Shaky Ground (Live) (4:12)
15 – Wild Horses (Live) (5:37)
16 – Knock on Wood (Live) (3:16)
17 – Peter Gunn Theme (Live) (7:21)

FOGHAT:
Roger Earl – Drums
Scott Holt – Lead Vocals, Guitar
Bryan Bassett – Slide Guitar, Lead Guitar
Rodney O’Quinn – Bass, Lead & Background Vocals
Eddie LeFebvre – Percussion, Background Vocals

Recorded across the U.S.A. by Tim Franquist
Mixed by Tim Franquist
Mastered by Bryan Bassett

MP3 FLAC

FOGHAT have spent more than five decades proving that boogie rock works best when the amps are hot and the room is sweating. “Live & Loud Across the U.S.A.” catches the current lineup doing exactly that — loose enough to breathe, tight enough to hit, and still dragging a filthy blues groove behind every riff.

Recorded across American shows during the band’s recent touring years, the live set was never originally conceived as a carefully staged concert album.
